About Kate

An Accredited Family Law Specialist, Kate sees her role as assisting the client to remain focussed on the “big picture” and achieving the most economical overall outcome, rather than allowing matters to become entrenched in the emotive conflict that family law cases often involve. Kate has a particular interest in complex property cases, and she works closely with accounting and forensic experts to bring about early results for clients. Kate is very focussed on exhausting alternative dispute resolution and collaborative law techniques before invoking court intervention. Kate enjoys positive working relationships with many other professionals – accountants, computer forensic experts, valuers, counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists, and other lawyers – to achieve early and harmonious resolutions for clients. Kate is able to quickly identify which of these experts will be able to assist her clients to an earlier resolution.

Kate is a frequent presenter at the Bond University’s Faculty of Law. She also volunteers as a supervisor of law students who undertake work experience at Jones Mitchell Lawyers as part of the practical legal training component of their studies. Kate also volunteers as a coach to Bond University’s team in the National Family Law Mooting Competition. In 2012, the team finished runners up to Sydney University in the National Final of the Competition.
